Day 10. I am too busy. I don’t have the time to do X.

I've struggled with the habit of saying "yes" to too many things. Through hard-learned lessons, I've come to realize that what may seem good isn't always what God intends for us. Saying yes to everything can lead to stress, resentment, exhaustion, and irritability.
1 Corinthians 10:31 says, “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
Scripture also states, “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. (Ephesians 5:15-17)
Is this God's will and the best use of your time?
· Before you say "yes", please know it is okay to pause and pray.
· Is God asking me to do this or do I need to decline the offer for the time being? (not yet or no?)
· Does this bring glory directly to God?
· How does the Holy Spirit want me to tackle this task? What is the divine strategy He wants to give me?
· What is the time commitment? Does this interfere with my other responsibilities?
· Am I saying "no" simply out of fear and because I am disqualifying myself?
· Seek counsel if you are uncertain.
· Continue to fast and pray and seek the Lord for confirmation before you say "yes".
While pursuing our God-given purpose may mean less sleep, tighter budgets, and more inconveniences, it does not mean that we completely neglect rest.
Genesis 2:2 reminds us that, “On the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done.” Even the Lord, the God of this universe, took the time to rest. Shouldn’t you?
Evaluate and consider what is taking up your time. Can you delegate? How do you reorganize to meet the demands of the Lord and your other priorities? Is it necessary? Does this move you towards or away from God?
These answers may not come immediately, but after much reflection and prayer, may the Lord bring you the revelation you need to propel you forward.
Dear God, please take things off my plate that do not need to be there. I pray that you open my ears to hear you clearly and open my eyes to see what needs to stay and what needs to go. Thank you for always directing my path. Amen.
