Day 4: I need to prove to others I am good enough.

We often find ourselves driven by performance, yet this emphasis on results and achievements can lead us to overlook the journey itself, and perhaps even grow resentful of it. When we fall short of our goals, our self-worth and confidence suffer. If this becomes a frequent occurrence or affects multiple aspects of our lives simultaneously, our very identity can be shaken. Sometimes, we face a barrage of criticism and judgment from others who perceive us as not meeting certain expectations, demands, or cultural norms, whether it's related to education, relationships, possessions, or careers. Then, when coupled with the added gossip, condemnation, and unsolicited advice that comes when we are struggling, maintaining hope or a positive attitude can become incredibly challenging. This creates a vicious cycle where our accomplishments become the sole measure of our worth. But what does God say?

Isaiah 55:8-9 (TPT) reminds us:

My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.

And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.

For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,

so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

Our journey with Christ may look different and may even appear "untraditional.” Yet, we must remember that the Lord sees the bigger picture. While we may question why He leads us down certain paths or makes unexpected turns, His aerial perspective from above allows Him to navigate us through unforeseen traffic, detours, and obstacles. Often, it's only upon reaching our next destination that we understand the reasons behind God's guidance. Other times, His reasons may remain unknown to us. Regardless, our responsibility is to obey Christ completely.

There will always be individuals quick to criticize or judge harshly, but their perspective is no better than ours. Remember, they cannot see what the Lord sees. I encourage you to focus on the guidance the Lord provides rather than the opinions of others. His direct communication with you is what truly matters.

Dear God, I pray for the strength to filter out the noise of untruthful and unwarranted criticism and judgment. Help us to refocus on Your truths and Your guidance! Thank You for Your thoughts and ways, which are far higher than ours. Thank You for Your perfect plan for our lives. Amen!
